Who We Are

Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society (CWRS) is a non-profit organization established in 1989 to support northeastern North Carolina national wildlife refuges. We partner with the US Fish and Wildlife Service across the Coastal North Carolina National Wildlife Refuge Complex, including at Alligator River and Pea Island Wildlife Refuges.

What We Do

The Society supports all national wildlife refuges under the management of the Coastal North Carolina National Wildlife Refuge Complex. We help recruit and train volunteers and interns to staff the visitor centers, conduct educational outreach through guided walking, tram, canoe tours, and community events, and assist in biological and maintenance roles at the refuges.
