Who We Are

OBX Room In The Inn, Inc. is a non-profit 501C3 organization that was established in 2009 by Gail Leonard and Claiborne Yarbrough. We have assisted hundreds of guests over the past 15 years. The OBX Room In The Inn shelter program begins in November and extends until the end of April. Intake starts each day from 4:00 pm and concludes at 5:30 pm at our office (111 W. Carlton Avenue, KDH). Each potential guest who arrives at the center will go through an intake process which includes possessing a valid government issued ID, a breathalyzer, drug screen, a personal property search, policy and paperwork review, and a background check prior to entering the program. If you know a person who needs refuge, a warm bed, food, or assistance with other services, then please tell them to give us a call at (252) 255-1133.

What We Do

Our mission is to provide food, clothing and shelter to homeless adults on the Outer Banks during the winter months and support services year-round.
