Local families that would like to volunteer together at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island are now able to do so at our Discovery Stations. Family volunteer groups must consist of one adult volunteer (a parent or legal guardian over 18 years olds) and one or two child volunteers (ages 9 to 13 years old). Adult volunteers are expected to volunteer side-by-side with the child(ren) to engage guests on different educational topics throughout the aquarium at our Discovery Stations.
Our current Discovery Stations that are available for family volunteers to be trained on and use include:
Wetlands Station (Alligators and Otters)
Shark Station
Marine Mammal Station
Sea Turtle Station
Oyster Station
Enrichment Station
Sea Jelly Station
Aquaculture Station
Carnivorous Plants Station
Amphibians Station
